Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) is hosting a NESEA Green Building Open House

Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) is hosting a NESEA Green Building Open House at its MassGREEN Weatherization Training Center, Saturday October 1st, from 10am-4pm. The Weatherization Training Center is located in Building 32 on the main campus off Federal Street in Springfield. The training center is used in our 78-hour hands-on Weatherization Installer Class. Full-size mocks-up and tabletop props are used to train students to be professional air-sealers and insulation installers.

Ethan Jackson, one of our Weatherization Installer Course instructors, will be giving tours of the props and explain the course. We will also make available for viewing copies of our course guidebooks, manuals, and handouts.

The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association’s annual Green Buildings Open House, the largest sustainable energy event in the Northeast, will be taking place on October 1, 2011. On this day, homes, businesses, and schools invite the public inside to investigate the renewable technologies and green building features being employed on site. Last year, more than 10,000 people toured close to 500 sites from Maine to Pennsylvania, and this year’s event is expected to be even bigger!

Homes and buildings in the Western Massachusetts area will be part of this year’s Green Buildings Open House (GBOH). To get a list of locations in our area (or to learn more about building features or fuel types) go to http://www.nesea.org/openhouse/listings/ and search the NESEA GBOH database.
